1. Service Scope
- DeckDrop Berlin rents Steam Deck LCD devices to private customers in Berlin.
- Units are refurbished LCD models, cleaned and inspected between rentals.
- Initial service is local handoff in Berlin only (pickup/return in person).
- Shipping, if introduced later, may have separate rules and risk checks.
2. Eligibility and Verification
- Renter must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering a contract.
- A valid government-issued photo ID is required before first handoff.
- A written rental contract must be accepted before any device handoff.
- DeckDrop may decline a rental request based on failed verification or risk concerns.
3. Rental Plans and Pricing
- Monthly Plan: EUR 60 per month.
- Quarterly Plan: EUR 165 per quarter.
- Pricing includes local handoff and standard device preparation.
- Storage upgrade availability (up to 1TB) may vary by SSD market conditions.
4. Security Deposit (Kaution)
- A refundable EUR 300 deposit is required before handoff.
- Deposit may be held by card pre-authorization or charged, depending on payment setup.
- Deposit may be used to cover unpaid fees, late penalties, or documented damage/loss.
- Any unused deposit amount is refunded after final inspection and account settlement.
5. Device Use Rules
- Renter is responsible for safe handling and secure storage while rented.
- No unauthorized opening, hardware modification, or unsupported repair attempts.
- Renter uses their own Steam account and is responsible for account activity.
- Device must be returned with included accessories in equivalent condition (normal wear accepted).
6. Damage, Loss, and Theft
- Renter is liable for repair or replacement costs beyond normal wear and tear.
- In case of theft/loss, renter must notify DeckDrop immediately and provide a police report where applicable.
- If repair is not possible, replacement cost may be charged minus any retained deposit amount.
7. Returns, Late Fees, and Non-Return
- Return appointments are agreed in advance for local handoff in Berlin.
- Late returns may incur daily late fees as stated at booking confirmation.
- Failure to return after formal notice may result in full replacement and collection actions.
8. Cancellation and Termination
- Cancellation rights, notice windows, and renewal behavior are provided at checkout.
- DeckDrop may terminate rentals for fraud, severe misuse, non-payment, or serious breach of terms.
- On termination, device return is required immediately or by the stated deadline.
9. Liability and Warranty
- DeckDrop provides the device in working condition at handoff and confirms baseline functionality.
- Liability is limited to the extent allowed under applicable law; mandatory legal rights remain unaffected.
- DeckDrop is not liable for renter account losses, in-game purchases, or third-party platform outages.
10. Data Protection and Privacy
- Personal data is processed to gauge interest, manage the launch waitlist, and form the initial customer invite list when service goes live.
- Personal data is also processed for contract performance, fraud prevention, and legal obligations.
- DeckDrop does not sell or share waitlist data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
- ID and transaction data is retained only as needed for legal and operational purposes.
- Data subject rights (access, correction, deletion, objection) are handled under GDPR requirements.
11. Governing Law and Disputes
- These terms are governed by German law, subject to mandatory consumer protections.
- The competent venue is determined by applicable law and consumer jurisdiction rules.
